What is Rentr?

Where is Rentr available?

Rentr is available to download for FREE on the Google Play Store, Apple App Store and it is also available via the web at www.app.rentr.co

Who is Rentr for?

Rentr is for Landlords, Tenants and Property Agents who are looking for a simplified and less stressful way to manage their rental property(s) and tenancy(s).

How much does Rentr cost?

Rentr’s core features—property searching, listing, and direct communication—are completely free for Landlords, Tenants, and Agents. While we offer optional paid products and services within the app, basic functionality remains free of charge.

How do I create an account?

You can create an account by visiting our website or downloading our app and following the registration instructions.

Once you’ve opened the app, you can sign up with your email address or mobile phone number, as well as via Google, Facebook or Apple.

Landlords & Agents

How do I add my property?

Your Rentr dashboard will guide you. Look for the ‘Add Your First Property’ notification. Click or tap it, and you’ll be prompted to enter your property details, including photos (up to 10), amenities, descriptions, rent, availability, and council tax band.

How do I advertise on Rightmove & Zoopla?

After adding your property details, navigate to the ‘Listing’ section and proceed to checkout. Alternatively, you can access the ‘Shop’ directly from your dashboard. Complete the checkout process to submit your property for verification.

How long will my listing be live for?

If you publish your property onto Rentr, it will be live until it is let.

If you publish your property onto Rightmove & Zoopla via Rentr, your advert will be live for 3 months, or until it is let.

Is there anything I need to do before I advertise my property?

Yes, complete property details and required documents—EPC, Gas Safety Certificate, Proof of Ownership, and Personal Identification—are mandatory. We cannot publish a property without these, so please ensure they are uploaded before requesting a review.

Where do I find viewing requests?

You’ll find viewing requests in your property screen under ‘Viewings’. Here we’ve added a filter for New Leads, Ongoing, Completed and Archived, to help you stay on top of your viewing requests. 

You can also access ‘Viewings’ via the side-bar navigational menu.

How long does it take for you to review my property?

We aim to verify your property as quickly as possible. However, due to our manual verification process, which ensures the legitimacy of your listing and identity, it can take up to one hour. If your property hasn’t been verified and published after an hour, please contact us and we’ll assist you.

Are you registered with a Deposit Protection Scheme?

Yes! We’ve partnered with MyDeposits to ensure all deposits are safe and secure and the best thing, it’s available directly within Rentr.

I need a new compliance certificate, can you help?

Yes! We’ve teamed up with a top UK property service provider to make compliance renewals fast and easy. Just go to the ‘Shop’ on your dashboard and choose the service you need. After checkout and payment, our partner will contact you within one business day to arrange everything.

Can I do referencing through Rentr?

Yes, for your protection, we’ve partnered with Equifax for thorough credit checks and referencing. To get started, go to the ‘Shop’ or tap ‘Start Referencing’ on your application, complete checkout, enter a few details, and we’ll handle the rest.

I've already got tenants, can I use Rentr for referencing only?

Of course, you can! You can also create a tenancy agreement, collect rent, manage maintenance and so much more. 

How long does referencing take?

Our referencing through Equifax is instant, so you’ll have results in minutes once the tenant has added their details. 

Is a digital signature safe?

Yes. We’ve partnered with Yoti Sign, a leading digital signature platform, to provide this service. Once signed, your agreement will be safely stored and accessible online within Rentr. 

Can I create a tenancy agreement via Rentr?

Absolutely! Our legal partner created a 6-month Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement that protects you, and your tenants for the duration of the agreement.

If you need to add a specific clause or make changes, just contact us and we’ll help. 

Do you offer rent collection?

We do! We’re all about simplifying your life as a landlord, so we also do rent reminders and arrears chasing for you too.

How do I invite a tenant to Rentr?

To invite a new tenant to join the Rentr app, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the “Property” tab and select the property for which you want to invite the tenant.

2. Click on “Create Viewing” if you haven’t already set up a viewing request for this property.

3. Enter the tenant’s email ID and name in the “Add Tenant Details” section.

4. If the tenant is not a Rentr user, an invite will be sent to their email address.

5. If the tenant is already a user, proceed with setting up the viewing without further action, as the invite is not necessary.

6. Complete the rest of the viewing setup, including selecting a preferred date and time for the viewing, and submit the request.

By following these steps, you can invite a new tenant to join the Rentr app using the landlord’s perspective. The tenant will receive an email invitation to join Rentr, and once they complete the registration process, you can proceed with setting up the viewing.

I need Landlord Insurance! Can you help?

Yes we can. We’ve partnered with Gallagher Insurance to bring different landlord insurance products directly to you, at preferential rates.

Simply head to the side navigation and tap/click on ‘Insurance.’

Tenants

How do I search for a property?

Once you’ve created an account and logged into Rentr you’ll be able to search for a property within the app. If you can’t find anything, don’t despair! Our Landlords and Agents advertise their properties on Rightmove & Zoopla, so you can also check out available properties there.

How do I request a viewing?

When you’ve found a property you love, simply tap the button ‘Request a Viewing’ and select a time and date you’re available.

This will then be sent to the Landlord who will either suggest an alternative date and time, or accept your viewing request. 

What is a holding deposit?

A holding deposit, equal to one week’s rent, shows your serious interest in a property. We notify the landlord immediately, who then decides whether to proceed. If they accept, we encourage the Landlord to start the application process, removing the listing and starting referencing and contract arrangements. If declined, you’ll receive a full refund. Remember, this is a deposit, not a fee.

Is it safe to pay a holding deposit through Rentr?

Your security is our priority. Rentr uses Stripe, a trusted global payment processor, to ensure all transactions are safe and secure. For your protection, we strongly recommend keeping all payments within the Rentr app. If a Landlord or Agent requests direct payment, please decline and insist on using the app’s payment system.

Is a holding deposit refundable?

Your holding deposit is fully refunded if you fail referencing. However, if you choose to withdraw your application, the landlord may retain the deposit to compensate for lost time and the property being off the market.

How do I know a property is available and not a scam?

To protect our users, every property and landlord undergoes a thorough, human-led verification process before being published on Rentr, Rightmove, and Zoopla. This ensures the authenticity of both the property and the landlord.

Can I just use WhatsApp to communicate with the landlord?

The simple answer is yes. However, we encourage all users to use our in-app chat function in order to stay safe online. 

Troubleshooting

My discount code isn't working.

We’re sorry you’re having trouble with your coupon! Let’s get that fixed. First, please double-check the coupon’s terms, as there might be a limit or expiry date. If everything looks correct there, contact us and we’ll resolve this for you promptly.

My login isn't working

No worries, this happens! You might be trying to log in with your email when you initially signed up using Google. First, try logging in with the same method you used to register. If that doesn’t work, use the ‘Forgotten Password’ option with your email address. We’ll send you a reset link. If you’re still having trouble, contact us, and we’ll help you get back in.
